It sees the SSD as a 1tb drive, but it's not able to resize the C drive partion to fill the SSD. Both are used to store data, but the way of storing data is very different. It really did clone it! :) I installed a disk partition utility - MiniTool Partition Wizard Free - and looked at the SSD. HDD stands for Hard Disk Drive while SSD stands for Solid-State Drive. However, the SSD now appears to be a 500gb drive.
I did check of all the other partitions, leaving just the 100GB on the source. I get a message about insufficient space. The laptop booted and things were much improved. I attached the old hard drive to the laptop using a SATA-USB cable, booted Clonezilla live and performed a device-to-device clone from the old 500gb disk to the new 1tb SSD I had installed in the laptop. I currently use Clonezilla live to back up my OpenMediaVault server so I thought I'd give it a try with this laptop. I tried to restore the image to the new SSD, but it kept complaining that the image was corrupt although I was able to mount and browse it on another PC. and select Extend Volume - Select Next on the wizard welcome screen.- Ensure your volume is listed under the selected window on the right, then select the amount of space you want to extend on to the volume (generally you would extend all the extra unallocated space), then select Next.- Finally select Finish.
